New Configuration Options for Gateway ADCs - E4000032 - 26 Jun 2001

Various configuration options have been added to AUXWODBC and AUXORACL. These affect the SQL that is generated for database access, and using these options may improve performance, in some cases very considerably. The new options are described fully in the updated Guide to Datafit.ini and SQL Products Guide.

In brief the new options are:

• use_rownum (implemented only by Oracle) - Gateway ADCS limits maximum number of rows returned by a single SELECT by using a nested SELECT with WHERE rownum <= n
• use_subquery - Gateway ADCS generates an additional predicate in the WHERE clause to limit the number of rows returned when doing non exact match searches.
• use_long_query - Gateway ADCS generate an alternate set of predicates for non exact match searches which may be optimised better by some SQL Engines.
• sequence_format (AUXORACL only) - Controls name used for implementation of autoincrement facility.

DP4 Version Compatibility

Beta software is supplied without warranty and should not be used in live sites without the agreement of Itim Technology Solutions. Compatibility with an eventual final release cannot be guaranteed.
