K4000001: COPYDB - 22 October 1999

When importing new fields of type J or K COPYDB set the field information up incorrectly. If the field length was specified as 1 or 2 the validation information was created in a corrupted manner, which means that edit fields validated with the affected fields behave inconsistently during data entry. MAKEDB is unable to change the validation.

WORKAROUND

Affected fields can be cured by changing their datatype with MAKEDB to type I and then changing it back to J or K again. You can also cure the problem by reimporting the data structure with the fixed version of COPYDB. You should check the validation ranges of type J and K fields.

This fix incorporates a number of earlier fixes to COPYDB which caused indexes to be set up incorrectly in various circumstances

DP4 Products/Versions Affected

4.515+

Where the version affected is given as 4.5xx or 4.6xx, all versions of DP4 issued prior to the date of the fix are potentially affected. Where a specific version number is given the problem was introduced by that release and prior releases are unaffected. If the version number is followed by a + all later releases up to the date of the fix are affected as well. If there is no + the fault is confined to the specific version(s) listed. If a patch release number is also specified (in parentheses) , the fault was introduced at that specific patch level.
