The Unix ADC was unintentionally missing from the DP4 CD ROM. On this page you can download the code needed to build either the 4.520 or 4.521 versions. (Note that these are not compatible with one another, so Unix ADCs must be linked for the appropriate DP4 release.) In fact the 4.521 set includes changes that will appear in 4.522 (See E4000015). These changes do not cause compatibility problems, and issuing them now will help to future proof Unix ADCs.
The DP4 header files included with the 4.521 release were not updated from the 4.520 set. This was partly because some changes might cause compatibilty problems in vary rare cases: the file pointer type for the DP4 file handling functions has been changed from long to unsigned long, to reflect the support for 4 Gigabyte databases. It is conceivable that comparisons involving file pointers might return different results from before, because of C type promotion rules. The updated header files are necessary for building 4.521 Unix ADCs. Some of the 4.520 CCUNX header files were also slightly out of date. The donwload for 4.520 includes the set of header files that was used internally for building Unix ADCs at release 4.520.
Where the version affected is given as 4.5xx or 4.6xx, all versions of DP4 issued prior to the date of the fix are potentially affected. Where a specific version number is given the problem was introduced by that release and prior releases are unaffected. If a patch release number is also specified (in parentheses) , the fault was introduced at that specific patch level.
Due to limitations on available web space downloadable fixes are only available for the most commonly used environments, and may not be separately available in both 4.5xx and 4.6xx flavours. If a file you require is not available you can ask us to e-mail it to you.
