The cclin.tar package on the DP4 CD ROM for release 4.523 did not contain the correct library files, but files that were several months out of date. This was due to an error in the process that created the package.
This meant that applications linked with the supplied ccown did not support the new -server_name command tail, and also did not contain a change made in 4.523 to the IPC used by DP4 that prevented the use of kill on the from causing problems to other DP4 applications.
The download contains the cclin.tar file that should have been released.
Where the version affected is given as 4.5xx or 4.6xx, all versions of DP4 issued prior to the date of the fix are potentially affected. Where a specific version number is given the problem was introduced by that release and prior releases are unaffected. If a patch release number is also specified (in parentheses) , the fault was introduced at that specific patch level.
