From time to time, if you want to make changes to your DP4 configuration you may need to run one of the DP4 utilities that updates configuration information. These are briefly introduced below :
DFSETUP is one of the most important configuration utilities: it is used to set up the locations where DP4 files are stored, system and transaction logging options, user preferences, and to configure support for printers and other devices.
MENUEDIT is used to set up menus for the DP4 program, and also the user accounts. For more information about this utility see Managing Users in the DP4 Developer's Manual.
SYSDB is used to set the system database name in the DP4 licence file. It can usually be run even when a DP4 installation is "broken" in some way or other and can help regain access to it. It is also often useful where a machine has multiple DP4 systems installed. For more information about this utility see SYSDB in the DP4 Quick Reference
The USERDATA utility sets up the information needed to control the screen and keyboard by allowing you to select a screen type. The information required is written to USERDATA.SYS. You can make multiple copies of USERDATA.SYS to cater for mixed terminal types and individual display preferences on a multi-user machine. You may not need to use this program under Windows as DP4 installation installs a suitable version of this file.
