From 4.616, whenever possible help messages are displayed as status windows. The terminal manager will automatically reformat and resize the help message and status windows to fit. Help messages containing multiple controls or with multiple lines and tabs (indicating alignment requirements) won't get reformatted but will still be displayed as a status window where possible.
Maps which are typed as #helpmap, or which are displayed with BOTTOM are treated in the same way. They are not reformatted however.
Help messages won't be displayed as status windows if this would obscure other maps unnecessarily. However maps that have been turned into status windows don't count and will be obscured.
This behaviour has been adopted for compatibility with Windows standards.
You can disable all this new behaviour by setting usestatus=0 in the DP4 configuration file.
