On the operating system command line, load the Redirect utility with this command:
RED<x> -READ <file 1> -WRITE <file 2> <program name>
For example: REDW -READ custenq.red -WRITE custupd.red DP4 loads Redirect and the DP4 System menu into memory. The keystrokes are read from the file CUSTENQ.RED in the current directory and played back to the file CUSTUPD.RED
Before the first keystroke is played back from the file, the Redirect file amendment popup is displayed:
Redirect file amendment
Map 10200 Field 1
1 Use existing entry
2 Change entry
3 Use entries until interrupted
4 Use entry but review action
Enter option required
The options are explained below:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Use existing entry |
Uses the keystroke recorded in the file and then redisplays the Redirect file amendment dialog |
| Change entry |
Allows you to enter a keystroke from the keyboard. If your input causes the current map or field to diverge from the map or field specified in the file, the Redirection error popup is displayed. Re-synchronise the keystrokes to allow the demonstration to continue as described in Playing Back Demonstrations |
| Use entries until interrupted |
Allows you to continue the playback and stop the Redirect file amendment dialog from being displayed for every field. To regain control over the playback at any point, press <Ctrl+B> to redisplay the Redirect file amendment dialog |
| Use entry but review action |
Uses the keystroke recorded in the file for the field, but amends the action. The Select action popup is displayed for you to add or remove a comment or pause (see Recording Demonstrations ). The Redirect file amendment dialog is then redisplayed |
Once you have finished making the new redirect file, you can play it back as described earlier in Playing Back Demonstrations.
