When users log on, their user preferences are read from the system database. A new user inherits the default set of user preferences on the system database, derived from USERDATA.SYS. You can change a user's preferences as follows:
Log onto the DP4 System menu with the username. On the DP4 System Main menu, select the Configuration Options option.
On the System & User Setup Options menu, select the User preferences option. The User Preferences menu is displayed.
Select option 1 to define the date and time formats:

On the User Preferences menu, select option 2 to set up the number format, keying conventions, words for 'Yes' and 'No' and menu input/output defaults:

On the User Preferences menu, select option 3 to change the colour and display preferences:

Some options define colours for different categories of screen text and maps. These options only apply when running 4.5xx programs Text Painting describes how to use the colour specification dialog. For messages, warnings and errors, you can enable a beep to sound on display. As well as field headings, all 4.5xx maps may be given a 3D effect with the addition of a shadow.
When you complete each screen, the User Preferences menu is re-displayed. If you have completed making changes, select option 8 - Exit. The Save/Abandon Changes menu is displayed. Select option 1 - Save changes. You are returned to the System and User Setup Options menu.
