When using the Importer, we recommend that the file from which you are going to import data is accessible in the current/working directory or the print file directory. If it is, the importer program allows you to scan through lines of the file to help you define the import field groups and their tables and fields.
The File Description option opens the IMPSETUP Main Parameter Settings dialog, used to describe overall properties of your program and the file to be imported:
For further detailes of the options, click on the appropriate part of the illustration above. The checkbox asking you whether all lines are of the same type is of particular importance, as it determines whether or not your program will use Field Groups.
Having defined the main parameter settings, press the OK button (or <Enter>) to close the dialog. You are returned to the Importer Program Editing menu. You must now define the data tables and fields to be imported by selecting option 2 - Line processing, as described in Defining the Line Processing
