Text Painting

Use the <Ctrl+P> keys to paint the character to the right of the cursor with the current paper and ink colours. To paint a block of text, just highlight it with the mouse or mark it as a block before using <Ctrl+P>.

To change the current paper and ink colours:

  1. Use the Colour, <F7>, option to display the colour specification dialog

  2. Use the cursor keys and <Enter> to select options. Pressing <Enter> again deselects an option

You can specify the paper and ink colours explicitly or opt to use one of the following predefined styles:

Default specifies that the colours set up for the map type are used. These are not specified in the editor, but in the User Preferences of the DP4 System Setup utility. This option is mainly of use when editing maps

Emphasised specifies that the colours set up for the Emphasis style are used. These are not specified in the editor, but in the User Preferences of the DP4 System Setup utility

If you choose your own paper and ink colours you can combine them with these options:

Flash under non-graphical environments, this option makes the paper flash. Under graphical environments, it makes the paper lighter. For example, blue combined with Flash becomes light blue

Highlight makes the ink colour lighter

Reverse swaps the ink and paper assignments with one another

  3. Select the Save & Exit option to leave the popup. The next text you type is displayed in the colours you chose
