This section describes how to extract Report Writer export programs, and then post them to another database. Read this section if you intend to generate import programs automatically from Report Writer export programs.
Extracting Export Programs
On the Report Writer Facilities menu, select the Setup and utilities option
Enter the database name. The Report Writer setup screen appears
On the Move menu, select option 2 - Extract selected programs:
Select the program you wish to extract. Remember that automatically generated export programs are named EXP<NNNNN>, where <nnnnn> is the internal reference number of the table. Report Writer extracts the export program to the file
Repeat step 4 if there are any further programs you wish to extract
If the target database is on another system, exit the DP4 system. Transfer the extract files to the destination system by diskette or other means
Posting Export Programs
Start up DP4 on the target system.
On the Report Writer Facilities menu, select the Setup and utilities option
On the Move menu, select option 4 - Post program file:
Enter the name of the extract file. The program is transferred, and the Report Writer menu bar is redisplayed
Repeat step 3 if there are any further extract files to post
Select the Exit option to return to the DP4 System Main menu
