On the DP4 Main System menu, select the Run Program option, and type
VIEW
.The View utility is invoked.
Select the File option, and enter the name of the file to be viewed. If the file is not in the current/working directory, include its drive and pathname, as in:
C:\DP4\INVOICE.PRN.
In 4.621, assuming you are using the officially releases 4.621 DP4 configuration file, VIEW is invoked automatically by most DP4 utilities when you select to send printed output to screen. The 4.621 program also creates a SendTo icon for VIEW. You can of course use any other program you like as a file viewer. One advantage of View is that it can usually correctly detect whether a particular file should be displayed using the MS-DOS or the ANSI character set. It is also intended that it should recognise various other other file formats, rather like the QuickView program included with Windows 95, though this has not been released at the time of writing.
