Help Authoring

To help you add context-sensitive help to your programs, DP4 provides a help authoring utility. The help author is a utility that you load into memory, and invoke when your program is running.

To enter a help message for a field, you move to the field and press the author key. The help editor will overlay what is on the screen to allow you to enter and edit the help text. When you have completed the message, you exit the help editor, and continue through your program. You can use this method to add a complete set of help messages to your program.

The help editor is based very closely on the DP4 text editor. You can copy and move text, draw boxes, and colour the help text. You can also specify whether a beep sounds when the help message is displayed. The help messages can be output to a printer or a file destination.
