Adding a Shared Control to the Map

To add a shared control to your map:

1. Select Add Shared Control from the Controls menu. The Add Shared Control dialog appears, listing the controls you can share.

   

   If you created the shared control in the current session, you must save the map before the control is listed in the Add Shared Control dialog.

2. Highlight the desired control in the list and click OK to add it to the active map.

3. The control is added at the top left of the map, and can be moved to the desired position in the usual way. You should also use the Controls Properties dialog to set its field number.

You can also change an existing control in a map to a previously created shared control by opening its property dialog, checking the "Shared" checkbox and then selecting the appropriate shared control from the drop down list in the "Name" Combo box. In fact this is the only way to use a shared control as the "Frame Control" for the map.
