To create a new menu:
Select New Menu from the File menu. The New Menu dialog appears:

Fill in the dialog, specifying the database, mapset and new number for the menu, then click OK. A Menu Editing window for creating the menu appears:

To specify the menu, double-click the blank menu option near the top-left corner of the Edit window or highlight it and press <Enter>. The Menu Item Properties dialog appears:

Click the Caption field and type the name of the first menu bar option. As you type the text appears on the menu behind the dialog. Options should usually have a pull-down menu attached to them so next click the Popup checkbox. If you do, a blank menu option is added below the menu name.

To define the first option of the first menu, click the down-arrow button in the dialog, click the Caption: box, then type the name of the option. Repeat this to add all the options for the first menu.

You can use the up-arrow button to move back up the menu once you are finished. You need not define the field numbers of the options yourself; the Map Editor will always ensure that they are correct. That is, they increase from the top of the menu to the bottom
To add a new menu, click the up-arrow button until you are at the top of the menu, then click the right-arrow button. Repeat step 4 to create the menu. You can also move to any part of the menu by closing the property dialog and then double clicking on the desired part of the menu.
Having roughly defined all the pull-down menus, you can fine tune your menu system by adding separator lines in the pulldowns, specifying accelerator keys, deleting unwanted options and inserting additional options.
