As well as the properties belong to each control, a map has properties that apply to the map as a whole, such as the rules used to navigate around the controls with the cursor keys (explained in Cursor Movement in_Maps).
The Map Properties dialog, used to edit these properties, actually contains two types of information - the information belonging to the special Text Control that defines the map's "Frame", and the actual map property information. The two types of information are not clearly separated in the dialog, but the only time you need to be aware of this is if you specify a shared control in the map properties: you will find that only the Control Properties are shareable.
To activate the dialog in which you can edit the properties of the map do one of the following:
Double-click any area in the map free of controls. The title bar is a good choice
Click the Map tool
on the Tool bar
Select Map Details from the Edit menu
Press F3
The Map Properties dialog appears.
