Place the cursor over the desired control in the toolbar and click the mouse.
Alternatively, select Control List from the Edit menu and the desired control from the list.
To select multiple controls, select the pointer tool and either
hold down the <Shift> key and click a control. Grey selection handles appear around it. Keep the <Shift> key pressed down and click another control. Two controls are now selected. Repeat this procedure until you have completed your selection.

or
Move the pointer to a position clear of controls, (usually above and to the left of the controls you want to select is best). Click the mouse to check that the area is empty. Drag the mouse down and to the right, surrounding the controls with the selection rectangle. Release the mouse to select all the controls that are completely within the selection rectangle.
If you cannot find a location free of controls (for example because you have used a bitmap as a background for the whole map), then you can start a selection rectangle by pressing the Ctrl key at the same time as you press the mouse button. (This only works from release 4.620)
or
Press F2 or use the menu to open the "Control List" dialog. You can use standard Windows techniques to select select a range or a more complex set of controls. When you have selected your desired set of controls click on the Close button. (This facility was added in 4.623)
