Specifying the Resource Location

Pictures used by maps are held in one of three locations:

  1. in the DP4 resource file

  2. as external files

  3. embedded within the application program or, if running a QA Build program, within the interpreter (PROGRUN)

If (3) applies, for the Map Editor to be able to display the picture correctly you must specify the location and name of the application, as follows:

  1. Select Edit Options from the options menu; the Edit Options dialog appears.

  2. In the supported application names box, type the full path name of the application holding the resources. Although you can specify as many applications as you like, each pathname must be specified on a separate line.

    It is a good idea only to specify the application that will be running when the map is displayed. At design type a bitmap or icon will be displayed correctly if any of the applications specified contain the named resource. At runtime the bitmap or icon will only be displayed correctly if the running application contains the resource.
