POD Definition

When you have defined your Device Group and its CODs, you are ready to set up PODs.

  1. Return to the Printer Characteristics menu and choose Parameterised output device (POD) configuration...

    Note that you must set up a POD for the initialisation device. This will be the initialisation POD, and without it you will be unable to select your Device Group within an application. In our example we will set up a POD TILL_INIT that maps to COD '1' (the initialisation device) of Device Group DDI_TILL. For each POD:

  2. Supply an appropriate name - this will be used by your application to reference the POD

  3. Choose the owning Device Group (DDI_TILL for every POD in our example)

  4. Choose the relevant COD that this POD will be mapped to (Ctrl+P supplies a list of available CODs)

  5. Supply a text description for the POD

    The slip printer is a typical POD belonging to our Till:

    Both the slip and journal printer PODs are based on the printer COD. Configure them in terms of parameter values. To do this choose Configure device and select parameter values as shown in the table below:
