The Message Assignment menu appears whenever you have the option to set up a message or simple Yes/No OK/Cancel type dialog in a QAB program.

The menu contains the following options/facilities:
1 Message NrSelect the number of the message to be used here. You can view all the maps in the current remark mapset, allowing you to share messages that are required in more than one place. 2 Delete a mapSelect the number of a map to be deleted. Caution! Do not delete a map unless you are certain that it is no longer used by any program or procedure. No warning is given if you delete a map that is used elsewhere. You can use the Weed facility of QABUTIL to automatically delete maps that are no longer used anywhere. 3 No messageSelect this option if you do not want to use a message here. You will be warned if the absence of a message will affect your program significantly. 4 Specific messageSelect this option to create a specific generated message, for example Existing time sheet record. 5 General messageSelect this option to create a general-purpose message, for example Existing record. 6 Copy map...Select this option if you want a copy a message used elsewhere. You may copy maps from any mapset into the current mapset. You may assign the copy a new number. The copy is independent of the original. 7 Edit map...Select this option to edit the map. This option starts the Map Editor application and loads the selected map number into it. You may edit the text and fields of the map and may also set cosmetic properties such as colour. 8 Edit/Continue [X]Select this option to return to your previous location when you have made the required changes to the message. |
