The following section lists the DP4 utilities provided with the core set of DP4 software. A brief description of each is given, with the command tails that can be used. It also documents the keyboard interface used by DP4 utilities.
If you are accessing the utilities from within the DP4 menu program, you will not be able to specify the command tails. However, most of the commands can be selected as options within the utilities. If necessary you can use MENUEDIT to add new menu options or modifying existing ones and specify command tails you require. (An example of this is that PROGCOMP appears twice in the menu for DP4 once with the -DEBUG option.)
There is a set of standard command tails available for all the DP4 database access utilities. For example, you can specify the -DB command tail to select the database you are working on before the program starts up. This avoids having to specify the database name after program loading.
If you are interested in the command tails available for a utility you will probably be running it from a batch file or other script file. You will probably also be interested to know the possible exit codes from the program. All DP4 programs use a set of standard exit codes.
