USERDATA

Creates a USERDATA.SYS file.

Command Tail Description

−AUTOWRAP

Support terminals that are configured to wrap to a new line after the last column

−BLINK nnnn

Increase this number to slow the cursor. The default is 1000 (for MS-DOS Graphics version only)

−CURS

Allow the selection of the cursor shape for Overtype/Insert (certain dumb terminals, MS-DOS and OS/2 only)

−DEBUG

Create a special version of USERDATA.SYS for debugging program output (not Windows)

−GRAPHICS

When using the MS-DOS graphical terminal manager, enables improved boxes (MS-DOS only)

−NOBREAK

<Ctrl+S> pauses, but the user cannot use <Ctrl+C> to terminate the program

−NODELAY

If the computer and terminal perform handshaking, no delay is required after actioning control sequences and improves performance (only relevant for dumb terminals)

−OLDDRIVE

Create a USERDATA.SYS for use with the 4.400 OSDI architecture

−OS name

Create USERDATA as though running on the named operating system. Valid names are: MSDOS, FLEXOS, UNIX, OS2, WINDOWS, PM

−PSPC

(4.620 or later) Create a hard coded color table based on the current Windows color scheme. This option is required to create userdata.sys files for use on versions of Windows CE that do not support the usual APIs for determining suitable colors, including Pocket PC and Pocket PC 2002.

−RESET

Replace the current user preferences with the initial defaults

−SAA

Selects the SAA keying convention, and in particular:

  • Tab selects the next field
  • Enter selects a whole screen
  • F1 is the Help key

Also, except for a Windows userdata.sys:

  • F3 acts as Escape
  • F4 requests prompt

−SAMEKEY

Retain the keyboard translation values (set up with DFSETUP)

−STANDARD

Create USERDATA for use with Standard DP4 OSDI architecture

−TESTFAIL

Make the <Ctrl+End> key combination generate a program fail (for testing a resilient application on a PC running MS-DOS or OS2)

−TYPE x

Creates a USERDATA.SYS file of the specified type

−WINDOWS

Choose Windows-like keying conventions. This option may cause minor problems in a few standard DP4 utilities and make some of their help messages inaccurate, but will probably suit experiened Windows users.
