The following utilities form the DP4 core software set. The command tails specific to each utility are listed in that utility's section. In the listing for each utility, command tails that are inset are for use in conjunction with the last non-inset command tail.
In most cases running the utility with the -help command tail will display information about the available command tails for the utility. This may be useful where you are using an older or new version of DP4 than is covered by this manual.
Consult the Release Notes to check which utilities are provided for your operating system.
DP4 programs are designed to be highly portable across different operating systems. Most DP4 programs behave identically on all platforms and take the same options. This is achieved thought the the use of interface or manager programs that handle direction interaction with the operating system. These programs usually have a different name on each platform based on a common prefix followed by an operating system number or code.
The operating systems are coded as follows:
|
2 |
MS-DOS or PC-DOS |
|
3 |
UNIX or Linux |
|
5 |
FlexOS |
|
7 |
OS/2 |
|
9 |
NLM |
|
W |
16-bit Windows |
|
W32 or t |
32-bit Windows. |
|
WCE or t |
Windows CE. |
|
W64 or t |
64-bit Windows. |
Thus TRM3 and SRV3 are for UNIX, TRM2 and SRV2 are for MS-DOS, and so on.
