To test programs, run REPSETUP and then open the Test menu. You can test all the programs or just a selection.
To test all the programs, select option 1 - Test all programs.
To test selected programs, select option 2 - Test selected programs. You are asked which program(s) you wish to test - press <Ctrl+P> to call up list of available programs.
You are asked about the output device(s) you wish to use for the errors. You can ask for the errors to go to the screen, a printer or a file. If you choose to print the errors, you need to specify in the Print device field the device whose characteristics you want to use for printing or formatting the print file. In the Output file field, you need to give the print file a name. Report Writer supplies the default file extension .ERR, but you can change this if you wish.
Select option 7 - Options to refine the testing process. You are asked the following series of questions:
Answer 'Yes' if you want to test the program but do not want any corrections to be made to it.
Answer 'Yes' if you would like Report Writer to ask what action to take whenever a problem is encountered during testing. If you are going to do this, you will probably find it just as easy to use the Program editing option from the Edit menu to validate the program, as this allows you to correct problems interactively.
Answer 'Yes' if you do not want Report Writer to test those programs which are marked as usable. Answer 'No' if you wish to test programs which have failed unexpectedly in REPPRINT.
