Installation and Configuration of the Oracle Gateway ADC
Prerequisites
The DP4 Oracle Gateway ADC requires:
- An operational DP4 for Windows 9x/NT installation, or a DP4 for Unix installation. If this is not available, refer to the appropriate DP4 installation guide for help on installing DP4 for your environment.
- The Microsoft ODBC driver manager.
- Oracle Client software, including OCI and SQL *Net.
- Access to an Oracle Server with SQL *Net
You must be using at least version 7 of Oracle. Oracle versions 7 and 8 are currently supported.
Components
The Oracle Gateway ADC will be supplied on diskette or via e-mail. The ADC is a single file, called AUXORACL.W32 for the Windows version, and auxoracl for the Unix version.
How to Install, Configure and Use the Oracle Gateway ADC
Before you can use the Gateway ADC to access Oracle databases you must perform the following tasks, which are described in more detail in the linked topics:
- Copy the AUXORACL.W32 or auxoracl file into an appropriate directory - that used for other DP4 programs is recommended.
- If you have an existing Oracle database which you want to access from DP4, then you can use the "installation aid" program (AUXWINST) included with the ODBC Gateway ADC to creata a COPYDB-format file suitable for creating a corresponding DP4 database. Refer to Installing and Configuring the ODBC Gateway ADC.
- If, on the other hand, you have a DP4 database for which you want to create a corresponding Oracle database you need to create an Oracle Schema from the DP4 database.
- Update the DP4 Configuration File as necessary to select configuration options for AUXORACL.
- Load the AUXORACL ADC, as described in Using the Gateway ADC.
