Using a Pivot Table

A pivot table is an interactive table that can summarise large amounts of numerical database data. To create one:

  1. Select PivotTable from the Excel Data menu. Step 1 of the PivotTable Wizard appears
  2. In step 1, click External Data Source. Step 2 of the PivotTable Wizard appears
  3. In step 2, click Get Data to start Microsoft Query from which you can retrieve data from your DP4 data source
  4. In Microsoft Query, create the necessary query that selects the data you want to use, then select Return Data to Microsoft Excel on the File menu
  5. Follow the remaining steps in the PivotTable Wizard to finish the creation of your pivot table
