This guide tells you how to install and configure DP4 release 4.5xx or 4.6xx for 32-bit or 64-bit Windows. You should always logon with an account with local administrator privileges when installing DP4
We recommend that you use the DP4 install program to install DP4, because although you can install the software manually, as described in Appendix A, manual installation takes longer and is error prone.
If you are installing DP4 software for the first time, or you are installing 4.621 or a later release of DP4 over an existing DP4 installation, the DP4 install program will help you install successfully. To do this, follow the procedure described in Installing DP4 using the DP4 Install Program.
If you are upgrading from a previous release of DP4 but are using 4.620 or an earlier release, follow the procedure described in Upgrading an Existing Installation.
If you want to install additional DP4 components or to re-install individual components of the base system installation, follow the procedure in Installing Additional Products.
Once you have completed the initial DP4 installation you should follow the steps outlined in Configuration of DP4 on Windows.
