DP4 Networking Components

The following table lists the various programs that are required to set up a networked DP4 configuration, and other network related DP4 components described in this manual.

Provides skeleton local DP4 functionality needed by AUXDISTR where there is no local database. Used with AUXDISTR -NOLOCAL.
dbdaemon All (Unix/Linux) Program Loader for Unix platforms - responsible for starting and stopping components used as part of the DP4 service, including the database manager and DP4 networking components. This component, introduced in release 4.525, performs essentially the same function as srvw32/srvwce do on Windows platforms.
DP4SRVR.W32 or DP4SRVR.WCE All Database manager for Win32 platforms - handles operations on DP4 databases on the machine on which it is running

FLXDISTR.286 Flexnet Combined AUXDISTR and FLX5 Router/Network Client. Should be supplied all command tails that would normally be specified on AUXDISTR and TCP5.

Database reconciliation program for Duplex Resilience

SRV2TINY.EXE

Cut down database manager. Provides read only database access on local machine. Uses less memory than SRV2

Database manager for non Windows platforms - handles operations on the DP4 databases on the machine on which it is running
SRVW32.EXE and SRVWCE.EXE All (Windows) Program Loader for Windows platforms - responsible for starting and stopping components used as part of the DP4 service, including the database manager and DP4 networking components.
TCPMGR TCP/IP Network Manager
TCPx TCP/IP Network Client
TSRUN Any Used to run programs on a remote server. Primarily used with DP4 Terminal Server
TSTCPx TCP/IP Provides Client side for application programs running with DP4 Terminal Server

In the list above, x is an operating system specific suffix as follows:

w (.w32) = Win32 platforms
w (.wce) = Windows CE platforms
w (.exe) = 16 bit Windows
7 = OS/2
2 = MS DOS or PC DOS
3 = UNIX
5 = FlexOS
7 = OS/2

Flexnet programs can be used to connect to TCP/IP servers or requesters running on other operating systems.
